Our Organization

AITAM – a national NGO, has been working since 1994,from the very foundation, the objective of this organization was to focus on health and population sector, providing clinical services for the poor and disadvantaged families in urban, peri urban and remote rural areas. A community based health care facilities has been established in the rural community and linked up with the referral services with peri urban and urban areas.At the same time public health is an important area where the organization has long experience working with water and sanitation providing deep Tube wells for safe drinking water, Sanitary latrine for the households, training and counselling for prevention of disease, especially in the rural area. Human resource development in Health and development sector became one of the major activities, organized under Institute of health and development in Dhaka, attached AITAM clinic. The Paramedical Courses are affiliated by the Nursing Council and State Faculty under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
There are tree Paramedical Courses

1.Medical Assistant Course MATS, 4 years with 1 year internship under state Faculty

2.Community Paramedic 2-year Course under Nursing Council

3.Community Health Worker. One year Course under State Faculty.

Health care for Marginalised families

AITAM provides low-cost health care service in the rural area through community based static and satellite clinic in rural, peri urban and urban area. The Reproductive health care – a priority service provided especially to rural areas. In the present situation women and adolescents has limited access- as the health centres are not gender friendly, even the women avoid the doctors and they don’t disclose their problems to their husbands or parents. Since 2000 AITAM has started working in the wider dimension of health and development sector, e.g., Treatment and care, public health and nutrition, policy advocacy in health and drug, and rational drug use. HIV/AIDS Treatment and Care. AITAM hospital was the first hospital where HIV/AIDS patients were admitted, while the government hospital and private hospital refused them to admit. Livelihood with especial emphasis on food security based on eco agriculture, climate change, Adaptation and mitigation, environmental resources and disaster management. Peoples organization development is the key element of project implementation , access to information, advocacy and lobby for participation in the decision making in local development initiative in the community , Human rights and good governance.

Legal status

AITAM is registered under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of Bangladesh in 1996, Subsequently affiliated with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and with NGO Bureau, in 1997.
